Fault Finding Before Parts or Software
Warning lights are usually symptoms, not root causes. We read the stored fault codes, check live data and work out what is actually wrong before any parts are replaced or any software is changed.
What We Do
- Read and record stored fault codes (DTCs)
- Check live data from sensors and systems where the vehicle supports it
- Look for boost, fuelling, EGR and sensor faults
- Check battery health, which affects many electronic faults
- Scan before and after any work
DPF Regeneration and Diagnosis
A DPF warning light is often a symptom. We check soot load and differential pressure where supported, review failed regeneration history, and can run a forced regeneration where it is suitable. We then give a repair-versus-replace recommendation. See our DPF diagnostics page for more detail.
Diagnostics First, and the Law on Road Use
RemapIQ is diagnostics-led and puts repair first. Some modifications are for off-road or competition use only and are not legal on UK public roads. If you have an emissions-system fault on a road vehicle, we recommend diagnosis and repair first.

Off-road and competition use only. Options such as DPF, EGR, AdBlue/SCR, GPF and catalytic converter removal, fault code (DTC) disabling, speed limiter removal and pops & bangs are for off-road, motorsport or competition use only. They are not legal on public roads in the UK. Removing a DPF is an MOT failure, with fines of up to £1,000 for a car and £2,500 for a van (GOV.UK). You are responsible for the legal use of your vehicle.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is DPF, EGR or AdBlue removal legal?
Not on public roads. Some modifications, including DPF, EGR and AdBlue/SCR removal, are for off-road or competition use only. Removing a DPF is an MOT failure, with fines of up to £1,000 for a car and £2,500 for a van (GOV.UK). We are diagnostics-led and put repair first, so if you have an emissions fault on a road vehicle we recommend diagnosis and repair first.
What should I do if my DPF warning light comes on?
Get it scanned rather than ignoring it. Causes include failed regeneration, faulty sensors and mostly short journeys. We diagnose the system before recommending cleaning, regeneration or any other work.
Can you just clear a fault code?
We read and explain fault codes first. Clearing a code without fixing its cause usually means the warning comes back, so we find the cause first.
Do you come to me?
